Help! Mold on cork bark

Help! I have recently gotten a baby gargoyle gecko, he’s acclimated well to his tank, already eating, pooping, and tolerating handling. He’s been there for about a week and is following a good night/day routine of sleeping on the side of a piece of cork bark in the day, and coming out to eat and say hello at night. His tank is a tall nano 5 gallon from Exo terra, and I’ve had some issues lately with letting it dry out between mistings. I’ve been told they should have some water droplets on the glass to drink, and that the relative humidity should be from 60-80 percent, and that it can get up to 99 while misting. It has not been coming down much during the day, even though I live in a very dry climate, so there is now mold growth on the piece of cork bark. I would normally just take it out, but it’s his favorite hide and replacing it might make him uneasy. Any suggestions? How would I clean it to make sure the mold doesn’t become harmful? His tank is usually at a humidity of around 80 percent and drops to 70 in between mistings. I mist at dawn and dusk and do not use a UVB forest strength bulb (working on getting the right one and the current setup is temporary) but do have ambient light from outside and a dim lamp by the tank during the day. The mold was white yesterday, so I had assumed it was lichen, but has since turned green! Any suggestions? And a couple more things to inform you about the setup is that i use oak leaf litter from Josh’s Frogs, a bit of peat moss from a local reptile shop where I also got the cork bark, and a fake hanging plant that extends through most of the left side of the tank. He loves the cork bark, and explores the other areas of the tank at night but usually only sleeps on the side of the cork bark. Please help!

I don't think mold is a big deal. Consider misting only in the evening and see if things change.
