unless ure feeding them to a gravid female then theres really no point 2bh unless ure tryin to fatten them up if ure gunna feed pinkies fed them once every month and a half and no i dont feed pinkies all my leo's are a good weight big crickets supers and wax worms are good enough to fatten up a gecko

Im guessing ur gecko is becomming a lazy bum :main_laugh:

2 of my geckos flat out refuse to eat out of a bowl because when i first got them i would hand feed them mealies and now theyre spoilt. When the worms are in the dish they never touch them because theyre not wriggling around for them.

My 2 babies will eat out of a dish cos ive had them from when they were less than a month old and they just got used to the bowl.

The problem you're having is the reason i want to phase mealworms out altogether...they make my geckos lazy hunters who dont get enough exercise and just get fat. When i feed them roaches and locusts they have to chase after them and properly hunt their food. Gives them exercise and the food isnt as fattening. Plus they always seem happier when theyve caught it, like they earned it :D

I kinda agree with all the posts above. If they eat crickets on their own, feed them that. Also, if you hand feed them worms... stop... try getting some tongs and dropping the worms in front of them so they wriggle around and hopefully that movement will spark the hunting instinct (sometimes pinching the head so they wriggle more will spark it). Still as long as they eat and aren't losing too much weight you're in the clear.

I'm right there with you Zoe! Both of my girls are hand fed (or spot fed more specifically), which is fine with me, because I can control exactly how much they eat, and it helps prevent bullying over food as well. I agree that mealworms make them lazy hunters and I refuse to do crickets because they freak me out, so maybe I'll try roaches one of these days. Ahh who knows!
