I feel bad that this is happening under my care, but my new female (I've had her 4 days) just laid 2 eggs. I wasn’t planning on breeding yet(I've only researched), so I don’t have a gram-scale. How should I go about measuring how much water to add to the vermiculate? For now I just soaked it and squeezed out as much water as possible, leaving it damp. Is this ok? I’ll watch for dents, and I’ve researched breeding and all that jazz, but I wasn’t completely ready for a pregnant female. Thanks a lot!

Was she bred to a male, before you got her? I have females that lay eggs even when they are not breed. This may be the case.

How should I go about measuring how much water to add to the vermiculate?

This is my first year breeding, but from the research I have done it seems that Perlite is better. Here is a link to a great incubation method. http://www.albeysreptiles.com/incubate-eggs.htm
The only thing I do differently is, I only put two eggs in a container (well how ever many are in the clutch) this way I can keep track of the parents.

Thanks for the advice!! I've been researching and have come across Albey's Icubation page before. I don't know if she was bred with a male before I got her, but at this point I hope so, because I guessed the right water to vermiculate level I think... so far no denting, and I've checked on them through the night. They look very fertile to me, and they're nice and plump.

All I have to say at this point is I hope they're fertile!!

Yeah, if they are fertile, and you have everything ready for the hatchlings, you’re in good shape.

They look nice and good, good luck with them!! I agree with Nicholas, we also only put 2 eggs to a container because hatchlings tend to dig and turn other eggs if they are left in the incubator for too long.. We had two eggs fail a week before hatching because there were too many eggs in one container and a hatchling turned all of them.
