To make a long story short some shed is stuck on the eyelid of my gecko William. Is this bad? How do I get it off without my gecko in pain or hurting his eye? I realized also that my buddy closes his eye a lot but only that eye. Please help!!:anxious::worried:

Flush the eye with water and also try to pry it out with your fingernail. Some people recommend using tweezers but I don't like to have those sharp tweezers so near the gecko's eye. If you can't get it out, take the gecko to the vet and let the vet do it. Stuck shed can cause corneal abrasions and infections in the eye.

It's not really on his eye, just on his eyelid. I tried pulling off with my fingers. It didn't work. I also have used really delicate tweezers I use for feeding him wax worms and tried. I think it made it worse. I will try again with water.

When I brought my little Ozy home from Petco he was finishing a shed. They didn't have a moist hide in their enclosure, he had stuck shed on both of his eyelids (they were super crusty). However I gave him a nice humid hide and a rough rock. He did the rest and is A-ok now. :D Next time though I would NOT try to remove stuck shed from anywhere NEAR the eye myself. I have heard of way too many geckos that have gotten shed stuck on the eyelid or close to the eye and after the owner takes it off themselves a nasty eye infection ensues.
