I have a male leopard gecko with a possibly infected nose. About two months ago, a small amount of shed was left on him, and I always provided him with a humid hide. The shed on the nose has now been dry and stuck on the nose. This applies ONLY to the tip of the nose: The nostrils are still free, he his very active (acting normal), he is eating normally, the nose appears to have a VERY small crack down the middle, and a little pink exposed. The nose itself is a darker tone than it usually is (a muddy yellow). Flesh is not exposed terribly, but a small crack is still visible: almost as if a few scales were lost. I have been giving the gecko multiple baths each week, but the stubborn shed wont give.
It has been over 2 months now, it is not bothering him what so ever, and I want to know if I should be concerned. Please help!
UPDATE:
I believe the irritation was caused by the gecko scratching off the recent shed, with the old layer still underneath. Would applying neosporin to the affected area with a Q-tip be affective?
