What is this? Is this mouth rot? If it is, it looks like a pretty early version of it, how could I treat it?

You can treat it properly by seeking a qualified reptile vet.

I tried contacting the only reptile vet here but haven't heard back. I believe it may just be a scab from a superworm bite so I will be cleaning it with hydrogen peroxide until I can hear from the vet, but it has been a week.

Do you leave a message? I would continue to call them. They cannot ignore you. Hydrogen peroxide can also eat away at healthy tissue, and isnt a good idea without speaking to a vet first. Its a very common misconception.

Thanks, I will contact them. The one in mount pearl isn't that great from what I have heard and the last time they took ages to get back to me and wanted 75$ just to look at a gecko.

There is an immediate improvement after cleaning with peroxide, I very much doubt this is mouth rot as there is not any real swelling or pus and it appears almost completely gone after cleaning.

If the peroxide foams a lot and continues to foam when you put more on then its likely an infection.

It foamed a little, and then stopped and looked like it did now in the newer pic. So if it is an infection, it isn't a very bad one from what I can tell.

His mouth is definitely improving, can't really notice anything anymore. Vet said it was not mouth rot and that it should be fine after the bit of peroxide.
You can also see his really nice colors in this pic, as I caught him as he we shedding.

I had the same thing happen to one of my geckos one time. I thought it was mouth rot at first but the scab appeared very quickly overnight. I haven't had a need to research mouth rot yet (knock on wood) but I'm guessing it is a condition that develops over time with a noticeable progression? I figured it must have been a superworm bite as well. I used a qtip soaked in peroxide to clean it for a few days. It looked better after each passing day and cleared right up. Eventually the scab peeled off and after his next shed I wasn't even able to tell anything was wrong. I found the qtip worked nicely to control the amount of peroxide I was applying into his mouth. I didn't want to kill any good cells or have him ingest a large amount of peroxide.

Yes his shed came off fine :p, I didn't want to stress him too much considering I had just held him against his will for the peroxide. I can't say I would be too pleased with someone holding onto my head either.

The foaming action of peroxide can actually drive bacteria deeper into a wound, and its antiseptic properties are fairly weak. In some cases, it makes things much worse, not better.
