My Ribbon Snake tipped his water dish, and now he has scale rot. I noticed this on Saturday, and every day since I have treated it with:
Twice daily application of neosporin and 50% hydrogen peroxide solution
Daily 10% betadine baths

I also switched out the substrate for newspaper, which I change daily, and removed the water dish and put in a deli cup of water so the snake can't go in it.

Some of the affected scales are falling off, I don't know if that's supposed to happen...?? Also, there are more spots appearing on his belly:worried:

:help:

If I were you i would contact T-ReXX on this forums or petvet or if you really really need help I would contact your vet and then take a trip down there just to be sure on everything and also google "scale rot on a ribbon snake treatment" or do that on youtube, I think that might be some of the best things to do, Also i would liek to let you know I do not keep ribbon snakes this is just some of my thoughts. I hope everything works out for you, Keep us updated with the scale rot. :)

Firstly, scale rot does not happen in a day or two of being in damp conditions... It takes weeks of being in soaked conditions... It is not something a spilled water dish would cause...

Treatment is pretty easy... You can use aquarium fish meds like Metronidazole... You can soak the snake in diluted mixes this for a half hour a day... Putting ointments on it will only make it worse... You want the infected area to dry out... After its next shed, you will see a considerable decrease in scale rot... The scales that are dropping of will not grow back but it will heal up...

Update: A lot of the affected ventral scales are gone, but I haven't seen any acute spots of scale rot. When I took him out for the betadine thing today, he was drooling a little bit...?

Well, my first Reptile I ever owned, my Peninsula Ribbon Snake, died this morning under my watch :(
Thanks for the help guys. From now on, unless I have a Reptile that needs to burrow or needs high humidity, I will only use newspaper.
