My leopard geckos are going to breed and I cannot afford an incubator so I am going to make a homeade one but I can't afford another heat pad either. Can I just make the incubator and then put it in a place in the cage where the other geckos cannot reach it but I will still be heated by the heat pad? It will still be filled with vermiculite and it will be sprayed and humidity an temperature will be fine but can I do this? If not, what do I do?

If you cant afford a new heat pad or incubator you cant afford to breed. Period.

Do you have any clue how much money you are going to need for the babies?
How are you going to heat them if you cant afford another heat pad?

I could go on and on with things that will cost money now and in the future and how you should not breed your leos but I am sick and really don't feel like ranting.

Take my advice and please don't breed your geckos. I am sorry if I sound harsh but you need to think of the life you will be providing for these animals.

I have a new tank setup for them with proper heating and I breed crickets so money is no problem I was just wondering if I could incubate the eggs in the tank instead of setting up an incubator.

The problem with that is keeping steady temps. You need a way to keep a Constant temp.

You have a new tank setup that could hold the possibility of 10-18 geckos? Don't take the criticism the wrong way. Just appreciate that we are here to help you before you possibly get in over your head. What if some of the babies get sick? What if the female becomes egg bound? What if the male has a serious prolapse? Vet bills are way more expensive than a simple heat mat or 50 dollar hovabator
