Hey all.

I got 2 eggs out of a female and I'm thinking they aren't fertile. One shrunk way up and is as hard as a rock. The other however, I think may be fertile? It's still egg shaped, but it has a dent in the bottom of it. I laid a moist paper towel over them for 2 days and nothing happened. I then burried them under the perlite and sprayed over them....still nothing....what the heck is the deal with them? Our other egg that is deffinately fertile is doing great and is all round and happy...but these two are so sad looking. :main_thumbsdown:

Dent means dry as you have figured out. You can spray water directly on the dent and watch the egg suck it up! I sit these badly dented guys in a shallow deli cup with a bit of water in it, not enough to cover up the egg of course!. Sometimes they pop back out with a bit of perseverance on your part.

In my experience, I've done the "bury them deep and spray water over the vermiculite" as well as the moist paper towel over the eggs. It usually takes several days before you notice a difference - sometimes as long as a week or more.

Can I try the water thing? I have done the paper towel thing and in three days, it still didn't un-dent(is that a word? lol). So, maybe I can try a bit on luke warm water?

Our first hatchling came from a really ugly dented egg. I tried all the tricks and it stayed dented. He is normal though.
