my gecko has been with me for about 5 months now. she was usually a heavy eater until about more than a month ago when she stopped eating anything. She was eating mostly mealworms. I tried lateralis and superworms but she doesnt even take a look at them. She lost around 4-5 grams since this started. She also doesnt poop anymore. She has UTH and I have her somewhere dark so I really dont know what is wrong. Her humid hide has moss in them and newspaper is the only substrate Ive used for her enclosure. Your help will surely be appreciated. Thanks. Here is a picture of her belly.

Judging from that picture, she might be gravid! Do you see two white oval things, one on each side? Here are some clearer pics of what eggs look like: pic 1, pic 2, pic 3.

It is normal for gravid geckos to go off food for a while. They'll catch up after laying. They also might reabsorb the eggs (especially if infertile). Has your female be placed with a male at any time (maybe before you owned her)?

She doesn't look bad otherwise. If it's eggs, she should lay them in 2-3 weeks, or reabsorb them.

Good luck!

But is it normal for them to not poop when pregnant? I dont really see the eggs. I tried putting her with a male before but nothing happened. Plus she was already not eating before I tried breeding her. The seller told me she was about 6 months old when I got her last January. Is it possible that shes ovulating? But is it normal for them to not eat for more that 1 month when ovulating? Im worried she might be impacted.

some females will go off feed for quite a while when ovulating or gravid. if there is any doubt in your mind, i would recommend a vet visit. better safe than sorry. but otherwise she looks healthy from that pic. try giving her a warm soak to see if it will "loosen" anything up. also make sure the temp on the hot side is warm enough. usually it needs to be 90-95 degrees on the surface of your substrate for the best digestion. i always recommend using a thermostat with any heat source to make sure the temps stay constant.

Well, if they don't eat, they don't poop, and if they're gravid, they stop eating for a few weeks ;) She looks quite healthy to me, and I see eggs, but maybe I imagine things :main_rolleyes: If she were impacted, you might be able to see a large dark mass in her belly, but that is not the case. If you're worried, you can always consult a vet, but as long as her tail doesn't get skinny, I would simply observe her...
