I have hatched a clutch of eggs in the past week. One of the baby geckos who I hatched today looks like she has a deformity. Her back looks like it is arked and she has what looks like a sac under her stomach. The sac is pink and hangs about. Is this normal? She is more lathargic than any of my others. What should I do? Her is a not so good picture of her.

that doesn't look so good to me... you might end up having to put her down because the sac sounds like it might be a hernia.

The sac could be umbilicus still attached. That usually falls off after a couple of days. As far as the lump on the back...I don't know. It's kind of hard to tell exactly what's going on in the pictures.

the thing on the bottom might just be the sac not completely absorbed. i had 1 gecko hatch like that and i was really worried but later on that day everything was normal and he is living a happy life. the hump on the back i havent seen that before. can you follow up on this and let us know what happens?

I just checked on her today. The sac has fallen off and she is starting to become more active. I think she has a deformed bone in her back maybe due to an incubator fluxtuation making her back arc. I will post better pics soon later.

Yes she can move around well. She loves to go under the paper towl. I can't wait to she will eat. She is not breedable right?

It's hard to say whether the problem was congenital, a product of incubation fluctuations, nutrition on the mother's part, etc. Regardless of whether or not the deformity would pass genetically, it's best to not even risk it.

I would also think that even if it could be proven not to be gentic, whatever abnormality she has may make breeding/egglaying much harder on her poor little body, also. I'm sure she will be a lovely little pet, though, if she gets around and eats alright. :)
