My medium is eco earth. I don't know what the ratio is but it will clump together and fall back apart. They are denting from the bottom of the egg not the top.
It is tough to say. You might try wiping away some of the water droplets that are on the lid to see if the eggs firm up. It might have been that there is too much moisture. If not, the eggs might not have been fertile.
Just had that problem with one of my eggs. I took a clean white cloth (a sock cut down to size really rofl), wet it and placed it tented up over the egg and made sure to keep it moist. Also sprayed water all AROUND (not on or close) to the egg to get the moisture up more. After 2 days of this the dent is almost completely gone and it's back to a normal looking egg.
DISCLAIMER: This is my first batch of eggs so PLEASE let some one else weigh in on this. lol I know it worked for me but that doesn't mean it will help you, just sharing what happened w/ my egg. BTW, the other egg in there was 1/2 inch away from it and it has always looked just fine so IDK. There is a pink bulls eye on each egg that looks great to me. *shrug* end of july/ first of august we'll know what's up w/ them I guess.
Shenandoah may have a point. I guess I really didn't think about them being too dry by the way you described the setup. I know there are more experienced breeders that have used paper towels etc... to plump up an egg. Hopefully one of them will be able to assist.
Yah the funny thing was there was so much condensation on the lid of the container that I couldn't even see through it yet the egg was denting :main_huh: No idea what that was about but checked it today and the dent is totally gone, took the cloth off it about 3 days ago while it was still a little dented.
