As much as I really want a one, I can't have another dog. My home complex only allows 2 animals per household (shhhhhh. don't tell the association that I already have 4 cats and a dog :D), but luckily, I have found a way to help out pups anyway. One of the biggest problems with rescue agencies is actually getting the dogs. So I've offered my car for transport. At this moment I am waiting for a call to go pick up a german shepherd, some puppies, and an eskimo dog from a high kill shelter a hundred miles away. I'm going to pick them up and take them to their new foster home. From there, they just might find somebody who really wants them for forever.

It's the least I can do for them and it just goes to show that even if you cannot adopt a pet, you can always contribute to their well being.

Here's a pic of my Pup, Maggie, and Marco the cat. Mags is a rescue and such a sweetheart. Marco is also a rescue, but he's kind of a jerk. I love him anyways.

That's awesome! There are so many ways to help other than actually adopting, I'm glad you found one that works for you. A lot of rescue organizations need volunteers at adoption drives or for booths at dog shows, etc. Even donating time to walk dogs at shelters is greatly appreciated. Just a couple more suggestions for others who are in the same situation!

Marco and Maggie look so interested in whatever is going on in your tank! LOL

Thanks guys! Last Saturday I transported the most beautiful German Shepherd from Hollywood to Malibu. He had some issues with his legs. Apparently, his previous "owners" kept him in a crate so long that his legs never developed any muscle mass. Every single time I turned a corner in my car, he fell over. He was also pretty malnurished. Poor dear. Other than that, he was wonderful. He had the greatest personality. All he wanted was to be hugged and talked to. I'm positive that when he gains some weight, he will be well over a hundred pounds. It was a really great experience and I can't wait to do it again.

Maggie: "What's inside?"

Marco: "I have no idea...is it edible?"

Maggie: "I dunno, stick your head in and tell me what you find."

Marco: "No way! What if it tries to eat me?"

Maggie: "I'll tell mom you put up a fight"

Marco: "Screw you..."
