Ok i was just wondering if theres going to be any catastrophic reprocussion of doing this..... my grl was rustling around for like 2 hours before it finally drive me nuts and i assisted her in getting her shed off.... i just pulled a piece off and she basically walked out of it...then i put her in a lil bath and put her back.

Since she didn't take the main part off herself, i guess she didnt eat it right away.... so while she was nipping the remaining pieces off her feet, i used a red light so she couldnt see me and kind of dangled the pieces near her feet and she started to eat... badass!

Ehh, actually health benefits haven't been proven. Some people think it's sort of a habit that's developed from their being prey. If the predator can find the shedded skin, they're likely in a place where the prey often stays. If they can't, they'll look elsewhere.

It could be nutritionally beneficial, too. But like I said, there really isn't any proof of either case, just speculation at this point.

i think i just assumed tbh... a healthy gecko must have healthy skin apart from if it has anything smeared on it lol.

i wouldnt exactly say its UNhealthy.

My breeder told me there was a ton of nutrients in the shed skin but thinking more deeply on the matter, it is dead skin so you would think any nutritional value it may have had would be gone once off the body.

So maybe after Im sunburned I'll peel it off and eat it :) I want to be healthy too...lol:p
One time I got sunburned really bad so I couldn't sleep without it burning and I started picking at the dead skin. Then I got a rash on my back, but I smelled like Aloe Vera.

Anyways, to OP, have you ever thought of giving the gecko a bath or putting it in the humid shed for about half an hour first? I'm no expert, but it seems like it would loosen the shedding (just for a precaution).

Are you sure he even NEEDS help... in the picture he seemed to look like he's doing fine. I'd leave him for 24 hours and see he still isnt out of it. then help him.
no need to help straight away.

:main_no: It didn't go well :main_no:

I'm a die hard dog and leo lover, I don't think there's many out there that would do what I do for animals hon BUT I really gotta draw the line when it comes to certain lower life form primal functions simply because I do preserve an EWWW factor where they ... do not... :main_yes:

Aside of that I share your geck-ocd :D

For the OP I do agree... keep your moist hide really moist the 2-3 days your leo really ghosts up... When I do that for Eros his shed is off completely by day 3.
