for anyone who hasnt read my first post, I purchased two geckos who were previously living together (male and female) for a year before we got them (which was about 3 weeks ago). my boyfriend convinced me that they were okay together after i told him that people on this forum were saying otherwise. (his family has vets who had told us they housed male and female together before and etc etc etc) ...anyway..
I have since separated the two for my own peace of mind about their health. The male is now in his own 10gal with everything he needs. I also got new thermometers hooked up to the carpet so I know that the belly heat is high enough.

Here's the problem: The other night we had the two of them out, the male got "excited" and I seperated the two because I didnt want him pestering her or them mating. They werent playing together but there were able to see eachother.
Now, 2 days later he looks "excited" again. but they are separated.
is it possible that he is just excited randomly, since I have read they can do that?
How long should I wait for it go back in before I should worry?
also, I have never had to soak before, so what are the steps to soaking him if I need to? Hes not the most tame little guy, I dont think I would be able to get a wrap on him without him freaking out..

any advice would be appreciated, but please keep any nasty/unhelpful comments to yourself. I am new to reptiles but not new to having pets. All I want is the best for these two which is why i took the advice from my first post. I realize the person before us did not do everything correctly but from what I have read up on since getting them they seem to act and be very healthy and happy reptiles.

In reptiles, when the male gets excited, the hemipenis usually doesn't stay out like in mammals. There's a chance that his hemipenis has prolapsed. One easy thing to do is to get some Preparation H (the hemerrhoid cream) and put it on the hemipenis. This shrinks the tissues and will allow it to go back in. Other soaking liquids that can accomplish the same thing are sugar water (with lots of sugar in the water) or karo syrup. In those cases, put about 1/2"-3/4" in a plastic container and put the gecko in there. If the hemipenis starts looking black or shriveled, or if it doesn't go back in with this treatment, you will need to take him to a vet. Sometimes it needs to be amputated.
