Herp show estimates

Hi,
I'm pretty sure I have my wife talked into letting me get 2 geckos at a herp show were going to in January. She's getting a BCI to add to her snake collection, so I think that is why she finally said yes to a leo. I have been looking at morphs to see what I like and I've narrowed it down to either a bold stripe or jungle. I'm a little confused though a bold stripe does it have striping down tail or rings? (if you have pictures to show with answer that would be great) Also if it were to be considered a bold jungle how would the tail be? Also can someone give me a ruff estimate on what you would pay at a herp show for these? I've looked on alot of websites and it varys greatly by breeder. (I understand that some specimens are better then others that's why a ruff estimate) Any other suggestions are welcome too, since I haven't made up my mind completly yet. I might just pick up whatever catches my eye who knows. Thanks for any info and nice to meet ya'll.

I'm not too certain of the Bold Jungle, but a good stripe is going to cost you $150 to $200 normally. You may get a small discount since it's a show, but good clean stripes are quite sought after. And a true stripe has the stripe continue down the tail. Otherwise, they should be identified as partial although that's often not the case. The Bold Jungle will likely cost less than the Bold Jungle.

You should let us know which show you're going to and maybe someone on here will be vending there and can give you a "preview" of what's available as well as the price.

Portland Metro Reptile Expo

I'm going to the Portland Metro Reptile Expo. I heard it's rather small but it's the closest one that I don't have to wait another year for. I went threw the vendor list and there were only a few set up with a website link. I did email one vendor (not sure how this forum reacts to names) to get an idea if they would be bringing what I was looking for (stripe leo and a butter corn) They replyed with yes they would have some butter corns and they had bold jungles. So I guess what I'm trying to do is determine to myself what makes a good specimen of what morph. I generally trust what people tell me, but I try and do research before hand. I've had some instances where I know the person trying to sell me something is full of it. I am by no means saying that vendor would, but I like to have first hand info if that makes sense. Thanks for your replies.

Well, I live south of Wilsonville, and am contemplating going to the show. If I do go, I could easily meet up with you and help you out :) I know nothing about snakes, but leopard geckos I know a thing or two.

Oh fantastic! I know of a few others on here that are going to try and show up...I wonder how we could all meet, if possible?

Well, usually when I go, I can't just go and look one time around, I have to see everything a few times, which usually takes an bout 2 hours.

:)

So it's a good chance we'll be there at the same time.

I haven't been to any shows so it will be interesting for me. I'll probably walk threw everything a few times and then when I make my final decision the one I wanted probably will be gone. Hopefully the weather will stop dumping snow on us. My wife grew up here and doesn't remember every having this much snow for so many days. My wife might win she really likes the tangerine enigmas. I was wondering if you can put Leos in a rack system, using flexwatt for heat? We're in the process of buying a house and I have a rack designed for my snakes, so thought it might work for leos also.

Hopefully this will help out a bit with the visual side of things. :)

This is a bold 'jungle' stripe (about 20 grams here going into a shed).

This is a high quality bold stripe - like stated above, they usually run around $150-$200 each. In my opinion, they are both equally beautiful. Jungle bold stripes can sell for $100-$200 depending on the quality and age of the animal.

I hope you don't mind me using your photo for confirming what I'm getting from this right now. Your gecko is high end due to @ 1 that it meets neck line and @ 2 that the full stripe meets tail. Second picture is one that I got from a google search and it's a lower end bold stripe due to 1 stripe doesn't reach tail and 2 stripe doesn't meet neck line? Let me know if I'm catching on to this or not.
