het tangerine?

I'm confused. How is a gecko het for tangerine? I didn't know they could be. Anyone know?

No they can't be het for Tangerine as it is a line bred trait,amazing how some people then that they can be het for anything.

They cannot be. They could be a gecko from a tang group that did not get that great of color, and still has tang genetics...but that still doesn't make them a het.

Thank you! I just saw it on a big breeders site and was so confused by it. I have never seen that before.

Polygenic traits can act as recessives at times, it not that the animal is heterozygous for the trait, but that it behaves as if it were in some instances, and thats what the breeder is saying. I know exactly which "big breeder" you are talking about and if you emailed him i bet he would give you a similar answer.

Truthfully though, calling it het in that instance is completely incorrect.

Thank you! It bothers me when someone like that uses terms incorrectly since so many people tend to go by everything he says. It makes it harder to correct them since they'll argue and say he's right.:main_rolleyes:
