Hi from Maryland!
Just got my first leopard gecko last weekend, found this forum as a good source of tips and tricks (and some fancy setups!:main_thumbsup
I think I've startled him/stressed him out a bit too much. I have only had him a week but changed his cage 3 times now! I think I'm done now, and a few hours ago he was out roaming around so he'll be fine. I had sand at first, then removed it and tried another substrate but I didn't think enough heat was coming through the floor. Now the cage just has paper-towels with repti carpet on that, and the foam rock with burrowing tunnel for different elevation.
I also have a 7 year old box turtle (currently living outdoors for the summer) and a tank of a few hermit crabs. Reptiles are great pets. No noise, no mess (outside the cage!), and fun to watch!
my tank:
I'll try getting a good pic later when hes out feeding, he's a regular looking leopard juvi gecko I guess though! Pretty eyes on these
Mine doesn't seem to eat much. The first day I tried dropping mealworms outside his cave, the 2nd day I got him to eat (a lot - 7 small mealworms and he caught 6/10 crickets overnight (found 4 alive still the 1st cage change on the 3rd day). But since then I can't get him to eat - so now I just have like 10 worms in calcium dust in a bowl for when he finds it/wants them. Is it just cause I stressed him? Or did I overfeed him that one day?
