Hi can someone help me with a couple leo's?

Hello,

I bought 3 leo's today. One is a male paternless albino. The other two are Albino Tremper females. Can anyone tell me anymore about them? I breed/keep bearded dragons and know most of the morphs.... However leopard geckos are completely different. From what I have gathered so far, tremper can be broken down further to the pattern/color(correct me if I am off)? What kind of tremper are my females? Is my male just a regular patternless albino?

Thanks for any advice/input! Sorry if I sound dumb :(

I don't even know if they are albino... All three have light grey eyes with dark red veins. Are they all tremper??

I've been spending a couple hours reading... Still lost. :main_huh:

There are 3 different Albino strains; Bells, Rainwaters, and Trempers (what you have). The Albinos pretty much look the same but if you look at their eyes you can tell the difference. The other one looks like a Patternless Albino.

Tremper Albinos are the most popular Albino strains. They have light silver eyes. They can range from light brown to "Chocolate" brown.

Bell Albinos are the second most popular strain. They tend to be more Lavender in color and have light pinkish eyes.

Rainwaters are the most unpopular strain. They tend to have the lightest color and the darkest eyes.

Both Patternless and Albinos are recessive traits.

How can I tell which albino(tremper, rainwater, bell) is the patternless albino? He has to be one of the three correct? Are the eyes the only way to tell? If I were to guess... If his eyes match the females, then he is the same, right?

I read that you cannot cross the different albinos, the babies will be normal, possibly het( for which one though...??). So if he is a tremper, and he bred with a tremper albino female, all the babies would be tremper albinos? Would the be 50/50 patternless and not patternless?
I'm not necessarily going to let them breed.... Just curious about it. I want to know more.

Thank you so much for the help!

He is one of the three. What color our his eyes?

Here is a punnett square with the cross you are considering. Since Albino and Patternless are recessive, they will need 2 genes instead of 1 to be in the phenotype.

t represents Tremper, p represents Patternless, and N represents Normal. Assuming the Patternless Albino is Tremper here is the punnett square.

Patternless Tremper x Tremper=

100% Tremper het Patternless (Ntpt)

Here is a better picture of him... The last one was kind of dark.

His eyes are.. grey with red/maroon veins. Every time I try to get a good look at his pupils, the light makes them too tiny :p but the pupils seem dark. The iris is a light/medium gray...

One thing to think about next time you get leos from a breeder or an expo is to find out from the seller exactly what s/he is selling. I probably wouldn't buy one if the seller doesn't know what they are. I always put on the lid of the deli cups that I sell the geckos in: designation of gecko (i.e. my code for who the parents are), date of birth, gender, weight, genetics (e.g. stripe 50% het Tremper albino). Some morphs can be identified visually and some can't. Congratulations on your nice purchases, though.
