Hi all,
I recently adopted a Leopard gecko from my friend who has a few, loves them all but simply doesn't have the time to look after all of them, including 3 bearded dragons, fish, 3 dogs etc etc so I quite happily adopted my first leopard gecko Kenneth! (He came named as this and it's kinda cute so we kept it):
He's very sociable when out (at night) and inquisitive in his viv although he's very laid back most of the time! He's a nice healthy size although my friend told me the previous owner neglected him a bit and when she got him he was quite thin but she's done an excellent job of bringing him back and he's a lovely colour and size now, I believe he's around 2 yrs old now. The vivarium set-up came as follows:
-610x400x400 cm
-Heat mat 1/2 the tank under fine sand substrate (colour changed every 3 months)
-Small cave hide one side, large log shelter on cold side, small cactus and water dish in the middle.
-Fed primarily on crickets and grasshoppers, he doesn't really like worms etc and tends to 'put up with them' at best!:main_laugh:
As I said, he seems very happy and has a lovely temperament and very nosey at night this is my first crack at looking after a reptile although I've always wanted to (only previous experience is an axolotl but he was VERY fussy and got a condition whereby he couldn't pass air or something and ended up dying ) so I'm sure I'll be asking lots of questions although I do understand there are some very varying opinions in the reptile world! Thanks
