Hi all. I'm new here, obviously, but I've been interested in geckos for about 15 years now. I got my first leopard gecko in 1995 and she just passed away last February. When I got her as a small juvenile I didn't know if she was a she or a he, so I just went with a "he" (all my other animals were male) and named 'him' Othello. In the weeks prior to her passing, I knew she wasn't herself, so I took her to the vets. The vet was impressed with her condition for her age. She had a mild infection (not sure why) so we treated her for that. She and I spent some quality time together in those final weeks and got some really good pics of her. I'm so glad that I did, as I'll always have those. I still miss her terribly.

I couldn't stand seeing the empty tank there after 15 years of enjoying leopard gecko ownership. I tried not looking at the empty tank, I really did, but a las, I found myself walking into a reptile expo and walking out with two wonderful new additions to my family. Ophelia (Super-Hypo Tangerine), I got from The Urban Gecko and Desdemona (Tangerine Bell Albino). I can't remember the gentleman I got her from, though.

They have been wonderful girls and I'm enjoying them so much. However, I find myself missing those wonderful spots that Othello had being a 'normal'. So I have been debating adding one more girl to the mix. I'm still weighing the pros and cons, but the next reptile expo is fast approaching (Oct. 16). I have a sneaking suspicion that I will, once again, find myself there.

That was a bit longer of an intro than I had thought it would be. I wanted to thank the Admins and Mods of Geckoforums.net for providing a wonderful place to learn about the care and maintenance for not only happy leopard geckos, but of most all gecko species. :)

Welcome to GF. Normal, spotted leopard geckos are highly underrated. I have a normal male that I rescued 6 years ago from a pet store (this was the last gecko they would ever have, so I didn't continue poorly cared for geckos by "rewarding " them with a purchase). This year I bred him for the first time to a blizzard, hoping for speckles.

Thanks for the welcome, Aliza. I have noticed that there are not many normals out there as the other morphs. I think they are all beautiful, but normals hold a special spot in my heart. I am just a fan of all those spots, I guess. I hope you get some nice spotty babies from your normal male.

:) welcome back to the game.
Good luck finding yourself another normal ;)

Thanks for the welcome.

Tell me about it with finding another normal! :main_laugh: I will keep my eyes open at the expos. I love my girls, though. I always wanted to have some cool morphs, so I'm very pleased with them. I just look back at pics of Othello and I realize how I much I miss seeing spots. If I don't end up with a normal, I'll look for a nice spotty kiddo to bring home.
