Hey,
All of my stuff is getting is getting shipped, and my tank will be set up by next weekend...I could get a Leo immediately after that...but then a week later I would go to camp (for 2 weeks...my mom would care for him/her)...I would come back...have a month...go to Maine for about 3 weeks (need to find a pet sitter).
My question is, Would it be a good idea to wait, so his/her first 1/2 year is with me?
Thanks, Sam
(It will be hard as heck to wait xD)

waiting would probably be the best choice in this case as you wont be home much and it isnt fair to the leo to have to spend the first half of the year with pet sitters

your mom could feed him for 2 weeks because you wont want to disturb him much for the first 3 weeks anyways. i dont think it would be good to move him again for three weeks, and then move him back home again but if someone could come to your house and feed him while you are gone then that would be ok.

Or if you can find a breeder near you in driving distance, maybe you can ask them to take him/her for however many weeks, but that might stress the gecko....just an idea. It probably would be best to wait though.

I know how hard it will be, but I would recommend you wait. If something goes wrong, and you aren't home that would be really bad. If you trust your mom enough to closely observe the gecko and then act correctly, that might be a different matter. When you first get the gecko, you don't know it's patterns, and behaviors, so it is extra important to keep an eye on it.

As for the the month before the 3 weeks away, that would probably be an OK time to get the gecko, provided you have someone to care for it. After a month you should have any potential problems worked out, and know what you are doing, and your gecko. The problem is, pet sitting. I would feel anxious leaving a gecko to someone else for that long (3 days is already too long for me), unless they really know what they are doing.

It sucks and unlike everyone else i say go for it now HOWEVER one of the best parts of having a baby leo, (for me that is) was watching her change and grow and get new colors. So if you get a baby leo youll be missing a lot of its changing and thats just such a cool experience that i think youll be sorry you missed it if you get the leo now. Id wait if i were you, hard as it will be.
