Holdbacks just cuz........

I have countless holdbacks that I just can't part with. I have no real breeding plans for them I just love them and can't part with them. Some for color, some for size, some for temperment, but whatever the case they won't be leaving me anytime soon.

Which brings me to my question. How many animals do you keep each year just as (for lack of a better word) "pets"?

I would like to say I only have held back 1 or 2. But.. This year we are holding back around 20 [if I had more room... there would be much more being held back] to breed in the coming years to our Enigma Offspring. Haha. Yey planning ahead.

I started with about 40 that I had set aside as holdbacks. I then narrowed that down to about 20 for this year.

I used to hold-back a LOT of my geckos, but not as much anymore. I only hold the ones I think will make great breeders, but if they don't turn out the way I hoped I usually sell them. I guess I'm getting less sentimental the longer I've been a breeder.

You should have an option in the poll for "0". I have such a small space I really have to justify each one I keep. On the other hand, I do manage to decide that any gecko I really want to keep is really necessary for my breeding project . . .

I might be able to answer this poll more accurately sometime next june-aug because this will be my first season that I will am looking to produce a lot of hatchlings, lol. Last season I had one that I kept though.

I've got 19 holdbacks. But a few of them I really have no plans on breeding I just don't want anyone else to have them. :greedy:

Well feel free too send them my way if you want lol. I have my first eggs incubating so I don't know how I will be with hold backs untill after they hatch.
