Now that I have decided to get a few leos again, I am in the mood to buy. I have found the projects I am excited about and and ready to start. Currently the market is slim since most breeders have eggs rather than juvies. Despite this I have found some impressive juvies from some upstanding members of GF. My only problem is that a number of them are on hold. I understand the hold part of the business, but my question is this: In this economy (not any better than when I left) how long do you hold a gecko when you have a cash-on-hand buyer waiting in the wings. I'm not upset with the sellers since everybody has the right to run their business as they see fit. I just remember putting a lot of geckos on hold and ending up with not a lot of sales. Just curious how others do it now with the economy in a crummy state.

I have non-refundable holding fees which are also accompanied by a time period in which I will hold them for. I do and have made exceptions to this based on case by case scenarios.

Since animals shown as being on hold have a serious buyer that has put a deposit down, pending settlement within the agreed upon time, it is technically no longer available. However, as some sales do fall thru, there's no harm in expressing interest should this occur. But be prepared to act immediately should a seller contact you on one you have spoken for, even if it's a polite "no thank you, I have already purchased another", and let them know you appreciate them getting back with you.
