New male leo I got from a woman I found on craigslist. She told me he had a hard time catching crickets. I know now that hes blind for sure. He obviously cant see a thing. But I just noticed this while watching him roam his new set up... His pupils dilate independently! Depending on how much light is exposed to each eye, they can be the same or OPPOSITE! Here's what I'm talking about! Anyone seen this before? Or heard of it?

NOTE: He doesnt always have his head tilted like that.

I have leos that do that all the time. Do you have any basis for believing he is truly blind, or just going on his inability to catch crickets?

haha I know the dilation is normal now, guys, thanks though. He cannot catch crickets. He will walk off any ledge (not too abnormal, I know) He only chases my female if she touches him and he will try to find her and go the wrong way (hes not doing it on purpose ex: crawling over his cave when she already went over it (while he also slips and has a hard time due to no claws). I know hes blind, its very apparent. He bumped into everything in his cage with no sense of direction and when hes moving slowly and cautiously he curls his tail to either side and lets it rub against what he is near, if anything, as if it were some sort of walking stick. He doesnt do that all the time, but a lot.

I've also tried moving my fingers around near each eye... moving them close quick like i might bop him, but absolutely no reaction. No turning away, nothing. Oh and when I put the female in he stands tall but has no idea where she is so he will slowly explore until he finds her or she brushes by. If he gets startled by me touching him in his cage he will run into things and then stand still (not looking at me)

There are a lot of reasons I believe he is blind.
