i'm just curious about this, i am not planning on breeding my geckos anytime soon. i have read in several leopard gecko books and even my turtle books about homemade incubators made out of a styrofoam cooler, an aquarium heater, a couple bricks to set the container to hold the eggs on. has anyone ever used a homemade incubator? if so, have you been successful? can you keep a constant temp. with the aquarium heater? im just curious because most of my reptile books mention homemade incubators

Wendy's right about the styrofoam cooler or igloo style homeade incubator. I've tried the homeade incubators with the aquarium filled half of water with an aquarium heater in it to control temps... It worked, but i had all bad eggs. Some looked fertile till the end, and never hatched... With this type, you really have to watch water levels, with just a little bit of water and the heat, the water evaporates quickly. Not enough water and the heater breaks. But if you do the homeade version, go with a cooler of sorts...
