Hooray...He Finally Ate!

So after a week of waiting and being patient I finally got "Tiny Tim" as my son has named him, to eat.

So roaches did not work and neither did superworms. I was all out of crickets so I went out to get some from local reptile store. At 2 am this morning when my frustration was getting to me, I dusted a small cricket, grabbed it with my tongs then lowered it in front of the entrance to his cave. He lunged for the cricket and snapped so hard he almost knocked the tongs out of my hand, and managed to knock the cricket loose. He immediately came out and destroyed the cricket.

I was so excited that he ate and that I found something he liked, I pulled about 10 more small ones out of the keeper, dusted all of them and dumped then in his container. I removed his wet hide so he could see them and they couldn't hide. He raced all over the container, picking off crickets 1 by 1 until there were none left. I tried to throw a few more in there, but I could tell he was full and he didn't want any more as he ignored the new ones tossed in. I collected them and put them back in the keeper. They are lucky for now.

Anyhow, I feel much better now, although I'm not too sure about the repti-carpet as a substrate any more. It looks good but he kept getting some of the fabric in his teeth when he went for the cricket and I could see him struggle to pull his head back up. It didn't look pleasant for him. I replaced all his cage items, put the screen top back on and turned out the light so he could get a well deserved rest with his belly full of crickets.

Thanks for all the patience and help everyone who gave advice.....:main_thumbsup:

yeah, i know how releiving it is to finally get a gecko to eat. I bought a leopard gecko recently, and he wouldn't eat for days. I kept putting crickets in there with him, but he wouldn't eat them no matter what. Then, after about a week, I put a cricket in there and it suddenly was blasted out of the hide. He tried to eat it, but missed! Now it usually takes him a couple of tries before he gets the cricket.
