So i have been getting fed up with looking for hides and decor for my reptiles and finding cheep made stuff that is just not right. so i decided to make my own! here is a 360 view of my first one, i made it for my young Leo Nymphadora, i made it from broken bits of an old cork hide, broken bits of natural slate, and some silk leaves from my thrift shop treasure hunts! all in all maybe cost me a few bucks.

Looks great! That hide looks like it would be great for when they're shedding and need something to rub against.
Since you seem like the creative type, plenty of people make their own hides with scratch. They use grout, epoxy, foam, great stuff, and a bunch of other things, google it.

Hey that turned out pretty nice! What a great idea for a little DIY project! Much prettier than a flower pot or plastic container!

I made a hide out of clay that turned out pretty good, I can give you the recipe if you want. You have to have something to put it over while you bake it though because it's not thick enough to stand on it's own. I used a fake rock from a different geckos enclosure. Then I just got some textured spray paint to make it look like a rock and some waterproofing stuff so it can be washed. Here's a picture everything 028.JPG

2 Cups Flour
1 Cup Salt
1 Cup Water
1 1/2 Tablespoons Olive or Vegetable Oil

Mix the dry ingredients and then slowly add the wet ingredients. Then you'll want to roll it out to about 1/2 inch thick. After it's rolled out I work in the pan I'm going to bake it in so I don't have to transfer it, first put down wax paper or foil. Put your mold (hide you already have, bowl, etc.) in the pan and put a thin layer of oil over it so the clay doesn't stick VERY IMPORTANT!!! Bake it at 250 until it's hard. I did it a while ago so I don't remember for sure but I think it took a couple hours. Don't forget to leave an opening for your critters to go in :) Once it's baked and hard you can sand any rough areas if needed. Put a layer of your waterproofing stuff (when I get home I can find out what I used) then let that dry for however long it says, paint it with whatever you want to (I had to do 2 or 3 layers to get the entire thing covered), once that dries spray another layer or 2 of the waterproofing stuff. I let it air out for about a week before using it after all that spray painting.
