hi, I don't own a gecko but there is a house gecko living in my kitchen. it is about 3 inches long including the tail. it's been hanging out in the kitchen for about a year. however, 2 days ago I noticed it lying by the doorway and it has not moved from that spot. I touched it with a piece of paper to see if it was alive and it moved a little bit. I put a few drops of water in front of it and it began to drink but still has not moved. i wish I had some roaches to feed it but it has eaten up all the roaches in my kitchen. i don't want to feed it a cricket though because i feel bad for the cricket. should i release it back into the wild so it can hunt for its food? but if it is sick i would not want to do that. tx

I called 2 petstores and one guy said the gecko might be starving (since he had eaten all the roaches in my apartment) so I asked if I could release him into the wild and they said that would give the gecko a better chance. so I took him to the yard downstairs and place him inside the bushes. I saw his heart beating hugely and then the beating stopped. I touched him but he did not move. I was so afraid the stress of the new environment might have killed him. I marked the spot. I went back a few hours later and he was gone. I hope that means he was still alive.
