I'm planning to order terrarium soon, the sizes is: 35"X15.5"X17.5" (LXWXH)
how many leo's can i house in it comfortably

10g 1, though thats the bare minimum. 20g 1-2. 30g 2-4, 40g breeder 3-5, 50+ I dont know.

Never house 2 males togeather as they will proceed in ripping each other to shreds.

my calculations are showing me that the volume is 40gal.
but i have a question, why it measured by volume? leopards almost don't climb, then i will have bigger volume if i will make higher terrarium, but the area is still the same for the leo's...

they're measured by volume because they were originally aquariums and the volume measure was important. That's why leo owners prefer 20gallon long tanks which are 30" long instead of 20 gallon high tanks which are 24" long. The gallon measurements are for the convenience of knowing what size tank we're talking about without having to give the dimensions all the time.

See the thing is people refer to gallon size on aquariums... But if you have a terrarium it wont tell you your gallon rating cause terrariums cant hold water. The one you have Id put 1.2 group: 1 male 2 females. Or if your not breeding 2 or 3 females would work too. But make sure you have enough hides, water, and food bowels for all of them.

As far as standard sizes... if you search any aquatic suppliers website you'll find the standardized sizes.
