Hova Bator Thermostat

I just received my Hova Bator in the mail today I'm not sure what to do with the thermostat. I'm using a Herpstat do I install the included Hova Bator thermostat will it run without it installed or should I install the Hova Bator thermostat and just set it high with my Herpstat controlling the actual temperature.

On a side note for those of you who use Hova Bators do you block the vent holes in the top or leave them open?

The second option: turn the Hobovator thermostat high and then run off your herpstat. When I used a hobovator I fed the temp probes through one of the vent holes and blocked the others up.

Last season I set my hovabator thermostat to like 85F or a little higher by playing around with it and a thermometer. Then I hooked it up to a thermostat for 82F. I was incubating for female. And if something happened to the thermostat then the hovabator wouldnt have gotten higher then 85F. I didnt cover up the holes.
