mom is a normal, dad is an APTOR. how the fudge did i get this guy??!! any other ideas on morph besides jungle? worth breeding? he does have a balance problem, but vet confirmed it is physical, looks like a flap of skin that formed over the ear, can be surgically removed when he is an adult. no enigma syndrome. but wow! any hidden genes mom or dad may have? he is 2 months old.

No idea how you got him from those parents but I would second not breeding him is there is ANY issue that is questionable. Even if the balance problem is physical how did the layer of skin over his ear form? I can't imagine any vet can say 100% that its definieltly not genetic.

Nice looking gecko though!!

not breeding him is not a big deal. im more curious as to how i got him in the first place! and the ear thing is a deformity due to fluxuating incubation temps. i had a thermostat fail on me without knowing for a week.

Yep definitely looks like a normal and aptor.
Here is my somewhat long explanation...
APTOR is a RAPTOR without the eclipse gene (R for red eye). APTOR is an acronym for Albino "Patternless" Tremper ORange. The P in Patternless is patternless stripe with is formed by crossing a reverse stripe to a stripe. Most often this stripe is a red stripe. Red Stripes have a lot of green to them, hence the green color. (I also see on his body within the yellow that it may form a orangy/reddish stripe, no doubt a result of red stripe genetics within him).
Stripes are also genetically odd in that a stripe can produce banded, jungle, or stripe offspring. So since your male came from a stripe background he ended up throwing a jungle rather than a banded (like mom) or a stripe (like dad). You can also confirm this since the offspring has a "striped" tail it is a jungle with stripe influence, rather than being a true jungle in which the pattern on the body and tail is completely irregular.

Jungle was actually the first morph ever produced so it is fairly common to produce jungles. Banded x Banded parents can produce jungles its just not very likely and far more likely if one of the parents originates from a stripe or jungle in its background.

thanks for thoroughly explaining that! it does make sense now :)

I bought three tremper albinos het raptor and they are all jungle or striped albinos. I think when raptor is in the genetics, because of the patternless stripe on the raptor, most of the offsprings will be jungle or stripe.
