Hi! I am thinking about getting some baby mourning geckos for my 12x12x12 front opening Exo terra. I was wondering if anyone knows how to make them escape-proof?
Use clear packing tape in the following places: around the entire top where the removable top meets the sides, at the sides of the doors where they meet the walls of the tank (there's a gap there, so use the packing tape to build up the sides to eliminate the gap. I keep a few very small geckos (S. sputator and G. albogularus fuscus) and I used to have S. macrolepis. I kept "losing" the macrolepis and at a first I thought the crickets that had gotten too large had eaten them. Then I caught one running around on my floor and realized that since I hadn't taped over the entire top of the enclosure, they were getting out that way.
