I have 2 females and a male in a 55 gallon tank with a over head lighting the daytime temp is 82-85 on left side and 90-92 on right side what does the temp have to be to similuate breeding. The watts are 150w daytime and a full spetrum like 5.0 and night just a 75w night glo. The temp is about 79-80 at night. I dont understand why they havent started to breed yet we are in feb tomorrow is march 1st and nothing yet ? Does anyone know the problem. I also have the tank on a timers. Day timer and Night timer. I also would like to know if you need 12hrs day and 12hrs night to start the breeding or is it temp started?.I also have a 20 gallon tank with a pair. That is a 100w daytime and a 75w night also in the same timer as 55 gallon. Having the same problem with that are my temps to high or to low or am i just missing something all together my geckos are adult males at 55g and female at 60g or so but on female is only at 45g im not to sure about her. Sorry i have alot of Question but i have tryed it all. Does the day and night have anything to o with it or is it just temp. Thank You for everones time and help (JoHn)

Are you measuring the temps on the ground or the temps in the air? Personally, I would ditch the lights and get Under Tank Heaters... that could be the reason why. Also, they could be breeding while you are asleep and not watching them. Leopard Geckos are more active at night. How long have the male and females been together?

Hope this helps!

They have been together for almost a 1 1/2. And my other 2 have been together about 5 months. (The female is 9 months at 40.2grams and male at 46.1. they are in a 20 gallon) and they have a undertank heater. I have one for 55 gallon but didnt use it yet. So i dont need any lighting at all ? i also dont need them on timers for day and night?

IMO no, I just keep a constant hot spot with the UTH at 92. Personally, I would wait to breed the 40 gram female and the 46 gram male until they are larger weight wise. Mating, egg producing, and egg laying take a toll on their bodies, the heavier they are, the better.

i would separate that 40 grams female before she gets gravid. she is not big enough to breed (not old enough either)
before breeding any of your leos i think you need to do some more research of keeping leos correctly :)

I keep them the same reguardless of day and night. I do not use any lighting. I don't use any timers. I have FlexWatt with a Thermostat set up on my rack. IMO means In my opinion :)

Any more questions, feel free to ask!

Never heard of FlexWatt and how did you wire your thermostat. It looks like to me that rack systems are the best did you build or buy yours? Ok I will separate them what grams should she and he be at around 50-55g? And will she be able to breed this season or next. Thankx Guys (JoHn)
