How do I tell if our SHCTBs are also Tang?

We were never sure if our SHCTBs also had Tang in them or not. I figured you'd have to tell as a hatchling, is that true? If not, how do you know? Or are they considered to be Tang if they have orange on them? Sorry if this is a dumb question :main_rolleyes:

outta my freakin mind
Tangerine or (Tang) is a subjective description. Tangerine is a description of a gecko that displays orange coloration. Now there are very many different hues of orange. So the only true test is... do you consider your gecko to be a Tangerine??? :main_yes:

On a side note, for me the level of tangerine and what I would call tangerine, has evolved over the years. Like I said, it is a matter of what you see.

Okay, thanks so much Jeremy! Ours definitely do not resemble the tangerines that are being produced these days, but they do appear orange in color to me :)

Got the baby's pic in the hatchling section. I guess after more consideration, the mother is probably not Tang.. well she has orange on her sides, but that's it. The father has a dark-orange-ish color; although they both look pretty yellow in the pics. I guess it is safer to just say that they aren't Tang.

Both of your geckos look Tangy to me. I wouldn't call them extreme Tangs but they are Tangy non the less.

Yep, I'm with Jeremy on this one! :main_yes:

I just looked at the baby a bit ago. It looks like its going to "hypo out", but I wouldn't call it Tang right now. Remember though, it can still change lots! ;)

Thanks guys, it's nice to have others' opinions :)

I think that the baby should be much more orange-y after its first shed :main_yes:

Wow!! I had to do a double take for a second, your male looks almost identical to mine except yours is brighter then mine :main_laugh:

Mine was sold a a Hypo which others on this forum have agreed when I asked a while back. The female I've paired with him was sold as a Tangerine. She's more orangey/yellow in colour and has reduced spotting compared to a normal, but nowhere near as reduced as the male.

In answer to your question, IMO I would say they are not Tang.

Going off topic slightly, I'm wondering now if mine is also a SHCTB?? I was told the slight markings on the head meant it wasn't. I'm confused now lol
