How do you check the air temps?

My first thermometer was a yellow digital thermometer with a probe, but it wasn't accurate on the floor. So using the small suction cup that's attached to the probe. I attached the probe to the wall of my cage and let it dangle a little bit , it now keeps track of his air temps. I use round metal thermometers for the floor temps. Hope this helps. I can load a picture if you need to see it.

Very Carefully

You keep track of the Air Temps Very Carefully.

You can buy a cheap thermometer (Are the Round Metal Ones) and it is a cheap one that sticks inside of the tank 6 inches or so from the bottom. It is suppose to be close to the bottom of the tank but, it is a cheap thermometer.

You can buy a digital thermometer (This is her Yellow one) that has a wire attached to it with a funny looking thing at the end. The digital thermometer goes on the outside of the tank and the funny looking thing goes inside the tank.

The funny looking thing is the lead of the thermometer and you can tape it on the bottom of the tank to get an approximate reading of the heat on the bottom of the tank.

Or attached to the wire next to the funny looking thing (or the Probe) is a suction cup and you can stick it on the inside of the tank and measure the air temp at that spot.

Or you can buy a noncontact thermometer that is like a Ray Gun used in some of the space movies and at a distance of 6 or 8 inches it will tell you the surface area temp.

Probably a good idea to use the cheap round metal ones on the bottom of the tank.:main_thumbsup:

Do not use the Thermometer Strips as they are JUNK.:main_thumbsdown:

It's a cell pic so it's grainy but it shows the thermometer, probe wire and suction cup. The temp in the picture is a little low, I prefer to keep it anywhere from 80-85 degrees and the warm side of the floor is ranges from 90-95, the temps are always on the lower end at night in my apartment. I'm not an expert but Arabesque seems happy so far. I hope this helps!

I have a temperature probe to measure the floor temps, and then one of the cheap round metal thermometers set next to it on the floor to measure air temps near the floor. Then I have a digital thermometer/hydrometer mounted halfway up the tank wall to monitor the humidity and the upper air temps. Here is a picture of the thermometer on the floor, and Puzzle is laying on top of the temperature probe, but you can get the idea.
