How Do You Guys Take Such Nice Pics?

I was wondering what you guys use to take pics. I have a diy photo booth that I got from Bear but my pics dont come out white, they have a pink tint to the background. What am I doing wrong?

Alright, check your camera for a setting that has a little flower icon, it'll look like this:

That allows you to take clear, close-up pictures of small things.

Also, try adding more direct spot-light to your subjects and messing with your settings a little.

Yeah I have Macro on and it still comes out that way. Thanks though Lena, anyone else have suggestions?

Ok, I don't know if your camera does this but mine does..

Try lightly holding the shutter release (picture-taking button) and see if your camera focuses differently. When it's focused how you like it, press down all the way to take the picture.

Also, make sure that when you take a picture, the light source is behind you and is hitting the subject.

You should turn the flash off too.
You dont want to blind your leo, or get a pic with his eyes closed.

What sort of camera do you have?
Try setting the white balance. If its a small regular digital camera like a Kodak Easy Share it should be under menu-white balance. most likely it says "AUTO" you can change this. Select the white balance menu and play around with the different settings.
if you have a DSLR camera you'll need to read the instruction manual. it will tell you how and were on the camera to set the white balance. Sometimes this requires holding up a flat white object to the lens.
do what the manual says and this should work out.

in fact, i recommend reading the manual on any new camera.
as boring as it may be, it always has very useful information in it.

If you can set the white balance on your camera you can fix the pink tint. What kind of camera is it? As Amy said, read the manual. They read like stereo instructions but they'll teach you about the camera's functions.

The camera Im using now is my grandpas (he dont want me messing with it, lol) but when my parents come down this weekend Ill have them bring my Olympus.

it wont mess it up by just setting the white balance. it changes from area to area so it should be set wherever you go. what kind of olympus? is it an slr or a small consumer camera?

I’d tried forever to get white pictures; I know just take pictures of my geckos on a rock.

also, if you have a photo editing program you can easily play around with the tints and saturation to get the right color

You would also probably need more lighting other than just the flash.

May still need more. I had to set up 2 lamps and change the white balance settings.

Or it may just be the camera. My old camera wouldnt take pictures anywhere near as nice as the camera I use now.

if your flash is on... make sure your finger is not anywhere near it... sounds silly but can also cause pink pics... just a thought...
