How do you heat your bugs?

What is the best setup that is not going to burn my house down or melt their plastic cage? A thermostat a must I would guess??

For the roaches I just use a section of flexwatt hooked up to a thermostat. Heat pad works equally well.

I keep my mealworm colony at room temp ~70 degrees depending on the day.

I use heat tape on a thermostat.

I just use a small UTH under the plastic tub. [I should probably sandwich it between a couple pieces of tile.]

Hmm, the UTH with tile sounds like a good option. I probably should of added that I have Dubais.

My lateralis & my glass dubia tank have a infrared heat lamp on them at night. During the day they are at current room temperature, but with temperatures dropping I have been leaving the heat lamp on all day. My worms & my other dubia bin are sitting on top of my 75gal monitor tank. They are each next to one of the heat lamps on top of the tank, but they are only on during the day & have room temp at night.

I am hoping to get some flex watt heat tape for them soon so I can maintain a steady temperature for them. I think that would work best.

Where could a person find Flexwatt tape?

is it sold at home depot or more of a specialty shop?

I am getting ready to do this and was going to just use the zoomed 8 watt UTH I have on a 10 gallon tank. I would think it would be ok since it never could get the 10 gallon floor above 85....
