How do you measure your incubation temps?

I have a zoomed incubator. I have my eggs in a large plastic container inside. I have a wireless temp sensor inside the container, it reads 85. I also have a temp gun, when I temp gun the eggs/substrate it reads 81. Which temp is correct? I want to try and incubate for females, which temp is best?

You have a better chance of all female at 81, but my temps over the years have been creeping up to 8-84 and I'm still getting all females. I use a digital thermometer with a probe. The probe is inside my SIM and the thermometer readout is inside my Reptipro5000. It may make most sense at this point to leave the temps where they are and see what you get. I say that because if you lower the temperature and the 81 was accurate, you're getting too low and if you raise the temp and the 5 was accurate, you're more likely to get males.
