I picked up my gecko and he sorta bit me so I must have been doing something wrong. How do you pick up your gecko? What is the right way? A video or picture would be really helpful. Any advice would be appreciated

Well, they need to become gradually an acquaintance to you. So everyday put your hand in there for 5-10 minutes and the first day he might be scared, second or third day he might smell it, fourth day me might lick, fifth day he might put a leg on it, and then in a couple days he will come onto you. Don't rush this process, they get scared when you shove your hand in their face.
If you really need to get them out (to clean or to sell), you can put a empty paper towel roll in their, leave it, take out the hide they are hiding in, and they will think its a hide, and vuala. :D

i pick my eliza up with thumb and pointer finger on either side of her, right behind her front legs. then kinda flip my hand so her belly is on my palm. it is really easy to do, but hard to describe lol. then when im holding her, i use as little restraint as possible, she is very tame and will usually just crawl around on my hands and lap, etc. i only really hold onto her when im putting her back or she gets antsy

All my geckos have been handled daily since I've had them, and are VERY acquainted with my smell. Even my overly skittish ones have come around to being handled regularly. All I have to do now is put my hand in there, they all come out, and whichever one I need I let smell my hand then coax it into my palm by gently touching their lower back.

Before it was this easy, I would ALWAYS first let them smell me by placing my hand in front of them, then I would do the same thing as Breanna...my thumb right behind their front leg on one side, and the rest of my fingers behind their front leg on the other side...then place them on my other palm, arm, etc. It's kind of like a scooping motion :)

I pick mine up from the front, just like the guy in that YouTube video does.

Dont even think of approching them from behind because they may take off in a flash. Never underestimate how fast a leo can run!! :D

Also, be careful of them jumping off your hand and possibly landing on the floor.

Before you start picking your leo up, he should have complete trust in you.
If you can reach your hand in the cage and stroke your leo and pet his head without him fleeing, he's ready to be held!! :)

I wanted to post this question here so that I didn't have to post another thread. If I want to get my gecko used to my hands, do I take out it's hide exposing it to my hand because my gecko doesn't come out of it's hide during the day. Or should I put my hand into it's hide? What should I do?

If you just want him to get used to your hands you don't have to lift up the hide. Just stick your hand in it, and he/she will sniff it or lick it and get to know you.
But if you want to pick your Leo up, I would say it would be best to lift up the hide.

I pick mine up with my fingers around their belly, I then lift them like that onto my hand.
