I just got my first leo this week and my girl wants a lizard now. she likes the crested cuz there more like a gecko cuz they can stick to things. i was wondering how easy they are for feeding handling and housing?

feeding: easy. Crested Gecko diet, and the occasional cricket or roach if you want.

Housing: also easy. 20 gallon tall tank, room temps (mid 70s) fairly high humidity(regular misting) branches, plants, paper towel or coco fiber substrate.

Handling: it can vary per gecko, some of my cresties are complete spazzes and some are very chill, but most calm down fairly quickly with "hand walking." They do jump, so you have to anticipate that. My friendliest male likes to climb to the top of my head and hang out there while I clean cages. :)

Overall, they're very easy geckos to keep.

BUT unlike Leos if a crestie drops their tail it doesn't grow back so you could have a stumpy butt'd lil wall sticker if you scare him too bady.

True, but losing a tail isn't something you want to happen with any gecko, and crested aren't any more likely to drop tails than leos. I have 21 cresteds, and all of them have their tails except for one, and he came that way. :p

Different species. Gargs are a bit more terrestrial, heavy bodied and aggressive. Other than that, they're identical in care.

i've never kept cresties, but i do have two male gargs. they are not aggressive at all. i can easily handle both of them with no issues. as far as care, its pretty much identical to cresties. but if a garg drops his/her tail, it will grow back unlike cresteds.

Gargs aren't aggressive to people, but to other geckos. They will de-tail each other fairly often if incompatible, so babies need to be raised singly and adults do best if either kept in pairs for breeding or singly as well.
