The pores, which might be what you're thinking of, are that v-shaped area in the male. It doesn't have anything to do directly with the mating act, but rather, waxy stuff comes out that has an odor (at least to the geckos) that the males use to mark territory and advertise themselves. That's why you often see the males rubbing their butts on the floor of the cage. When they are actually mating, these pores are not involved at all. Suffice it to say that male leos have 2 of what male humans have only one of and they insert either one into the female and deposit sperm, just like human males.

No, females do not have pores... they are more like dimples. Males have actual pores that secrete a pheromone scented waxy substance that they use for 'marking' their territory.

During mating the male will align his vent with the females and grab hold of the back of her neck with his teeth. He will then evert his hemipenes and his sperm travels down these into the female. It is possible for a female to store sperm, so one or two matings will allow fertile eggs to be produced for the whole season. Stored sperm will fertilise eggs for up to about a year.
