Hey guys, I'm wondering how long does it takes for the leopard gecko eggs to go bad in a coco-peat laying box? I've heard somewhere that said that the hatching rate of the eggs would drop dramatically if the eggs were to leave in the coco-peat based laying box for over one day. Is that true?

I think it depends on the moisture level in the coco fiber. If its too wet or too dry it kills the eggs quickly and its quite hard to monitor the dampness of that particular medium. I check my lay boxes once or twice a week so eggs can be in there for 3-7 days after they're laid and they all seem to hatch just fine. I try to make the fiber damp but not wet. I can stick my fingers into it a search for an egg and it doesn't cling to my hand to where I have to wipe it off after.

So you're using coco peat as well? I found it online saying that coco peat is not really suitable for egg incubation as it has bad air flow and 3 - 7 days is quite a long time.
