How long to shed?

Mine usually do it within the day since they got the hang of it. In the beginning it took 1-3 days. And they sometimes (even now) have some shed left over that they either forgot about or can't get. When that happens give them about 3-4 days after they started shedding to let nature take its toll. If nature doesn't help, soak him/her in lukewarm water for 15 minutes or so, or peel it off with a wet q-tip.

yea totally depends on the gecko and the environment they are in (humidity, temps, etc). i will notice in the mornings usually that my gecko is a little bit lighter than normal, then he starts to really whiten up and once he starts rubbing up against his hide to break the skin loose it takes him about 10 minutes. maybe 8-10 hours in total for my guy.

yea, i kinda agree with gatorgurl, ill notice my girl lightening up in the morning, then it gets progressively 'worse' through the day, by dinner time its up near her eyes (she seems to start lightning up from her tail and it works up her body). then in the morning she is bright and beautiful. i guess about 24 hrs total

I agree with Breanna and a tiny bit with garorgurl.
You see the geckos getting lighter a bit in advance, but then they actually shed in about a day. It is OK if it takes more than 24 hours for them to shed, but it shouldn't take more than 2 days to get the majority off (in MY opinion).
And I agree with gatorgurl, because having a good, moist, humid hide will help the process. Actually, if you don't have one they won't be able to shed.

He shed. If you mean you haven't seen the skin it's because they eat it..and if you mean it's because you didn't see him shed..well, it usually only takes them (or at least mine) under 15 minutes to shed. :D

I think its just a habit.
They don't do it all of the time.
So don't be scared the first time they don't eat their skin.

So they do get lighter from the tail up? That explains why when I checked on my leo, he was all ready to shed in the back, and on his head it was still nice and shiny. I was just curious because mine seemed to have a little trouble getting the shed skin off his head, so I decided I would give him 2 hours before I helped out. He forgot it was there though :main_rolleyes: so I sprayed him with some water then 30 minutes later he was done :)

Unless mine have a problem during a shed its usually done in one day. I can usually tell a day before they are gonna start, but usually once it starts they are done pretty quick.
