How Many Gallons Is This Tank?

Hey all,

My friend wants to sell me his terrarium that he no longer uses. It's 36 inches across (ie. from the left-sided wall to right-sided wall), 12.5 inches high, and 12.5 inches wide (ie. from the front-sided wall to the back-sided wall). Does anybody know how many gallons this would be? I'm guessing around 25g as mine is 20g and is about 23.5 inches across with all other measurements being the same.

Approx. 24.3 gallons, if I did the math correctly. The manufacturer might just call it a 24gallon-long

Is a 20g tank enough for one adult-sized gecko? Miine is only 3 months old or so, so he's still fairly small and right now he seems to be doing fine. I have one moist hide and two other hides (one in the warm area and one in the cooler area) as well as a water dish. But once he grows old I'll have to replace one or two of the hides with bigger ones so he can fit, so I'm thinking he might eventually get cramped up in the tank.

Any thoughts?

I think a 20-gallon long tank (i.e., 30" long) is enough floor space for 2 adult geckos. However, if you have designed a naturalistic enclosure with a lot of cage furniture, you will have to go larger. I would also be careful not to make it too large for younger leos to find their food.
