I don't know if this is a common thing but Eros LOVES to leap. He'll leap right outta your hand if you don't watch him, he'll leap from my son back to me, He'll leap from my hand to my shirt esp. if I'm wearing a dark colored shirt like navy or black. He's a Leaping Lizard :) Somtimes he'll give a little warning with a slight head cock, but usually it's just bombs away. Hopefully he outgrows some of this as he matures. I'd love to be able to just sit and chill with him, but right now he's soooo active (at 7 mos old). How much did your's mellow as they matured? Should I expect much of a change in this behavior?

Thanks ;)

Yeah, I've got one that likes to bail out at random times as well. Silly lizards. He/she (petstore bought, unknown sex at this time) did use that leaping tendency to impressive effect last week, snatching a cricket off the side of one of the hides.

One of my females actually jumped off of my computer chair on to the floor, which is about a 1-1.5ft drop, and just kept on running like nothing ever happened, I couldn't believe it!

One of mine always jumps of things and does flips and stuff like that. She's had a few hard falls but she is fine. But yeah, she has pretty much outgrown it after almost 2 years of life.

Well at least it's good to know he may out grow this :) it scares the bejeebus outta me every time he does it. He did it yesterday as I was holding him after he just pigged out, I always hold him over a table just 'cause of this, and he jumped and SMACK landed right on the table with a HUGE thud. I was waiting to see if he was gonna regurg as he had a totally full belly but nothing yet thank the gods.

I have a couple males that jump. Marly once jumped off my shoulder and landed belly flat on the ground. That was at least 5 feet! He was fine afterwards, just a bit shocked. Since then, I never let them sit directly on my shoulder. If they want to sit there (which they love), I'll put my hand there first; so they're sitting on a palm that's resting on a shoulder. ;)

They may or may not grow out of it, my geckos that have a tendency to jump still do it; and they're 7 and 9 years old.

My Leo Zoe jumps... she too just last week jumped off my shoulder... scared me half to death when I saw her hit the floor! But thankfully she was alright. She is a little over a year old and still going at it. She has a tree branch in her tank and she loves to climb on it and when she sees me coming with her mealies she will jump off it and run to her food bowl! Its quite entertaining as I also have an AFT that is mellow but loves to be held and walk around. They are exact opposites so it balances itself out!

I have a handful females that jump from my hand to my t-shirt, or jump to catch a cricket (successfully!!!). Very skillful, I must say :main_rolleyes:

Then I have a couple that always climb the mesh of their cage top like acrobats.

It's just like in humans--some are more sportive than others :main_laugh:

i have a female who jumps. but not out my hand she just jumps even when in her enclosure. i have a big display tank set up with a couple of normals in seperate from the breeders, and theyve got big rocks and stuff to climb in it, and also a climbable background. and ive seen her, more than once, climb a rock to the top and jump towards the back trying to grab on to the background haha. tis quite amusing.
