How many times?

How many times should I let my pair copulate before there's a really good chance that they got the job done? I don't want to stress my female out too much, as my male gets pretty feisty and doesn't seem to want to let her go even after they're done. Haha, she'll start walking away, dragging him around still attached to her cheek/neck. Anywho, as always, thanks for your help in advance. It's always greatly appreciated!

Cheers,

OK kinda in the same boat here, put my pair together last night and with in 5min it 'looked' like he was getting the job done and the female was all to happy to accommodate him (and then kept at it for another hour and a half lol) but he never stopped and cleaned himself like I've read. Would that mean that nothing happened? Put him in with her again tonight and she came out but wouldn't let him get into position to copulate tonight.... then again I wasn't looking THAT close :main_robin::main_robin:
Do you think she is all set or should I put him back in with her again tomorrow night and see how it goes?

FoolsGold, I'm not super sure--hopefully someone else here with more experience can help you out. I know that copulation for my pair, as far as I observed at least (I'm sure they must have locked up previous to me seeing it), twice before I separated them. Each lock only lasted between 20 seconds and a minute. It is almost impossible to really see if the act is really taking place, but when mine were finished they both cleaned themselves. The male had his hemipenes exposed for a good 30 seconds or so after copulation as well. Anywho, thanks again all for the replies, they are all very much so appreciated!!

Cheers,

I'm sorry to bring up this old thread, but what you described was exactly what happened with my pair! They looked like they mated for 10 seconds, but then when they separated, the male just kept on going and did not clean himself. The female had been refusing him after that. Now my girl has eggs in her belly, I wonder if there is any chance that the eggs can be fertile...although I understand they most likely won't be. Any followup with your pair? Did you get any eggs from them?
