So I have two females right now (I don't have gram scale but ones full grown and the other is a sub adult) in a twenty gal.

I am planning hopefully for my birthday in three weeks to get two from a breeder on here (I have no job currently so its all up to the mother and boyfriend lol) ones a male and ones a female.

Can I house all four in a forty gal?
And if I want to bred should there be a seperte tank for the male and female I am breeding?

Okay not sure if my intital question was answered if I can house all for in the forty gal?
Once he is old enough to bred I can re-house him but I have heard of many people housing sexes together?

Ok let me restate what I said. You need to quarentine the new leopard geckos for 30-90 days. So you need to have anouther tank. After the quarentine period you can house the other female with the others and then keep the male housed seperately. Males sexually mature faster then the females. And just because a female is sexually mature does not mean breed her then.

Okay..not sure if you meant to come off mean but it sure seems like it!
I know about putting the new geckos in quarantine.
I have just seen/heard a lot of males housed with other females other than breeding.

Technically, you can, however I wouldn't recommend it. As stated earlier the male will stress out the female trying to constantly breed. There are always random cases though, I had a pair who had to be together, they would not eat if seperated, and I only got eggs a few times, so they obviously didn't mate that much. However this is far from the norm, most males will just continuously try to breed. You can house 4 leos in a 40 gal tank though, that is plenty of room, I just wouldn't keep the male in there once they mature.

Ok thanks! :)
Well I don't want my females to become skinny from over breeding my normal female was a rescue from just that (But she was being potentially bred)
Isn't it normal for three in a 20 gallon then?

Well...males are usually larger. I should keep him in the twenty and upgrade to a forty once they all get big enough I think. Yeah I think thats what I will do. :)

Sorry if you thought I was being mean. I used to have some leopard geckos housed together 24/7 365 days a year. I had some females lay eggs too young and pass away. Now except when I am breeding they stay seperated. I have one male that is always housed with a female but that is because they been housed together for 7 years and both are very healthy.

You can have 3 females in a 20g and 4-5 in a 40gallon. Make sure to have alot of hides and humid hides.

Yeah as John said 3 is fine for a 20 gal, just put some more hides in there then if you only had one just so they can be seperate from each other if they want to be.
