Hey all,

Im new to the forum and I'm really impressed with everyones beautiful geckos. I am in the process of getting my first Leo by the end of this week, and I was wondering about how many crickets/mealworms/waxworms does your gecko eat a night. Thanks for your help in advance

I feed my gecko only gutloaded mealworms. I usually put about 15 mealies in the bowl at all times. The gecko will eat as many as they want then they will stop.

It depends on the age/size of the Leo. Our babies eat 2-4 crickets every day and some of our adults only eat 6-8 superworms a week.

We like to keep our females a bit heavy and our males we keep a normal weight. We feed three times a week, rotating our calcium w/ and w/o D3 and our multivitamin. We are feeding our young geckos (daily for juveniles and hatchlings) small mealies and small super worms. Our adults, like I said get fed three times a week but we are switching to all super worms since they take longer to pupate (or die *rolls eyes*). We some-times use crickets when we run low on supers or mealies. Hope that helps.

PS- you don't really need to use wax worms as long as you're supplementing your geckos well and using gut-loaded crickets/supers/ or mealies.

Thanks you all for your comments, but i've always wanted to know how do you gut load your crickets and other foods. I'm sorry for all the questions but your advice is greatly appreciated.

I blend high quality dog food and mix with dry oat meal. I use carrots apples and potatoes for moisture. I only place a few slices of either potato, carrot or apples at a time so the gutload does not get moldy. I change them out daily.

My baby eats 5-6 mealies a day or 2-3 crickets a day.
