How often do you go through food?

I chose to make mealworms as a staple diet for my future leo and wanted to get the right amount to last for a few weeks, better yet a month before having to go back for more food. Each tub at my petstore contains 50 mealies each. How many tubs would i need to last a month for 1 sub adult female. I'm not breeding. I will give a vary diet but for the first week i'll use mealies. How often do you buy insects and how much money do you spend each month? Thankyou.

I don't spend money on feeders because I breed them...Its personl prefrence on how munch you feed your gecko. If it was me for 1 month of food for 1 gecko I would buy 1 of those tubs of 50 mellies.

simple math.. just decide how many mealies you are feeding and at what frequency. most adult leos are fed every other day, so if you are feeding say 10 mealies every other day, that would be 150 mealies a month... or so. i also breed my own feeders and i go through about 3000 supers every two weeks ;)

I also breed my own feeders so don't buy any on any regular basis. I would avoid pet store feeders though, they're rarely well fed and can be parasite vectors. I would buy online. Ordering 500 meal worms would last you about 4 months for a single adult leo. Meal worms store very well in the fridge for months.

I want to avoid bulk because they dont come in tubs just in the box so I dont have enough room for 500 but i know ording bulk is much more convienent. I would breed but my parents wouldnt let me lol.

20$ a month or so on Super Worms, but I am going to start breeding and using dubia as a main feeding source.

So 150 mealies or 3 tubs should last me about a month. I will get 3 tubs then, Thankyou. Where i'm going to buy it says 3 tubs would be 9 dollars. Which I can do.

Are you buying it from a pet store? Coz if you are i find they eat ALOT more then a breeders gecko. The pet store gecko i had ate 15 mealies easily with 5 crickets or dubias. That was for a good 6 months then he finally slowed down. I think starting with 3 tubs is fine but dont limit his food right away. pet store geckos often get fed very little. This is assuming your buying from a pet store. If your buying from a good breeder then 150 should last a bit. like the others i breed my own food, minus crickets(which is costing me 10.10 for 7 dozen a week)
